Adventure Travel

Adventure travel is no longer limited to those looking for extreme environments, strenuous activity or tented accommodations. These days, adventure - or active travel as it is sometimes called - has broadened to include activities in which nearly anyone can partake. Adventure travel is divided into two subgroups - hard adventure and soft adventure. Hard adventure is more consistent with the conventional definition, requiring participants to be more physically fit and often involving specialized skills or equipment. Soft adventure, however, includes everything from walking tours to gastronomy and wine tasting, with a wide range of activities in between. It's also not uncommon for travelers to combine soft adventure with cultural or even luxury travel, taking day excursions to go hiking or biking, for example.
