Exploring the Mendoza Region
Mendoza's second most popular attraction (after the wine) is its topography of mountains and dessert. Trekking, horseback riding and white water rafting excursions are readily available. Nearby Aconcagua is the highest peak in the Americas - highest in the world outside of the Himalayas - and provides plenty of opportunities for trekking and climbing. The mountains are also popular with skiers, and those looking to get away from the city atmosphere enjoy mountain cabins which can be rented rather easily. For those looking for something a more relaxing and less physical, the Kaua Spa at the Park Hyatt offers fantastic services. Approximately an hour from Mendoza lie the Termas Cacheuta. The hot springs here feed provide natural grottos, feed the resort pools and inspire spa services such as mud baths.
