For those looking to travel outside of Kuala Lumpur, several hours out of the city (by bus) is the small town of Malaca. Malaca is the old capital of Malaysia, and while a bit run down in places, gives visitors a good look at everyday life for much of the population. The city center contains a brightly colored church and a few shops and vendors around a grassy courtyard. The rest of Malaca is full of narrow streets, and local homes and businesses, with the river winding through the town. In addition to Malaca, Malaysia's beaches are becoming a more tourist destination in recent years. While not built up as much as other tourist beaches in Asia, they offer a relaxing place for those looking to simply get away.
