Carnival

Carnival is one the greatest celebrations in the world, and there's no place to celebrate it like Brazil. An extraordinary display of parades, costumes, music, dancing and plenty of partying all through the day and night, it is certainly an experience you will never forget. Rio de Janiero's Carnival is probably the most familiar among tourists, though Salvador's might be more notorious among Brazilians. For first timers to Carnival, Rio is probably your best bet. If you are planning to go to Carnival, be prepared for plenty of noise, crowds and non-stop action. Hotels fill up quickly and can get quite expensive during this time of year, eight months to a year in advance (it starts on a Saturday and ends on "Fat Tuesday" every year) , so give yourself enough time to plan.
