A “New” Alternative to Hotels
July 10th, 2009
Vacation rentals have been around for a long time. What’s new about them is that they’re becoming increasingly popular with travelers looking for something other than the traditional hotel. In the past, vacation rentals have been associated with certain regions – mainly beach locations that were not yet built up with hotels and tourist attractions.
These days, you can find vacation rentals in virtually every corner of the world – from beachfront properties in the Caribbean to Tuscan Villas to apartments in Egypt with a view of the pyramids.
Who are vacation rentals best suited for?
Families and multigenerational groups - They allow the group to be in one location while still maintaining some personal space (you’re not all crammed into a couple of beds in a hotel room).
Honeymooners and Couples - What’s more romantic than your own villa with a private pool or hot tub?
“Girlfriend getaways” and “guys weekends” - You love your friends, but do you really want to sleep four to a hotel bed just to save a little money?
Anyone looking for a “home away from home” – if you are going to be away for an extended period of time, or you just miss the feel of home, a traditional hotel just might not be for you. Vacation rentals allow you to feel at home even when away.
Despite the fact that vacation rentals are often touted as the more affordable alternative (they often are), this doesn’t mean they can’t be luxurious. Around the World Villas offers private villas in locations such as Bali, the Caribbean, Central America, Croatia, France and everywhere in between.
With the increased number of vacation rental possibilities, choosing the right one may be a more daunting task than it was in the past. Work with your travel planner to ensure that you choose a property that best fits you and your traveling companions and that you are getting the best value for your dollar (Euro, Yen, Krona, or currency of choice).

I love this idea. I can just imagine vacationing in a Tuscan Villa: cooking pasta in kitchen and eating outside in the fresh Italian air, while sipping on a glass of wine. And no hotel guests to disrupt the moment!
I love this idea! It makes for a much more relaxed visit for families or even regular “tourists” who want to feel a part of the destination location.
So true, My wife and I have been using vacation rentals for the past 30yrs. Then the choices were limited and the places were “not so nice”. Today the choices are unlimited, beautiful homes, any location well maintained, its a thriving business.
